Alpha-Core BP-30 BALANCED, SYMMETRICAL POWER SUPPLY The new Alpha-Core BP-30 power system is build around unique balanced and shielded isolation transformer. Due to the exact degree of balance common mode noise and reactive components are reduced by at least 60 db. The unit is encased in a high quality, low profile aluminum enclosure, which will fit well into most home entertainment systems.

Background Most Home Theater owners and Audiophiles do not achieve the optimum performance from their expensive purchases of home entertainment video and audio equipment. The problem is noise and video interference, which enters our homes via the power grid. Quick fixes such as "grounding", "not grounding", "AC power grounding" or "floating interconnect shielding" will not eliminate the noise or hum problem. The reason that these proposed "fixes" don’t work is that they do not deal with the real culprit. Noise and hum induced from the unbalanced AC power line. When the AC power distribution standards were established in the 1920’s the primary power uses were incandescent lighting and three-phase motors in industrial facilities. These uses largely maintained the waveform and symmetry of the power as generated and even some line distortion was of little consequence in the early radios and transmitters. In the last part of the 20th Century the appearance of semi conductors and increased use of power electronics in industrial controls have brought along great benefits but also a host of problems to users of modern sensitive electronic equipment. The problems are caused by noise and distortion components that are delivered to your home audio and video equipment via your AC power line from your local electric company. Unbalanced AC power lines deliver to sensitive audio and video equipment the noise and hum generated by every electrical device connected to the power line, even devices that you think are of no consequence. Devices that contribute to the distortion problem are not just fluorescent lighting, light dimmers, air conditioners, refrigerators and all other appliances, but also the very audio and video equipment that you use. The Solution Early work in the sixties by Bell Labs. suggested a simple and elegant solution to the above problems: A Balanced Isolation Transformer. The solution acknowledges that a ground is not a ground as long as connections are not made to a single point. Multi point grounds cause AC voltages and currents in the form of hum and noise to enter audio and video systems. A balanced power system establishes a true single point ground permitting all hum and noise to be balanced out. Accordingly, for the past 35 years more and more commercial users have installed balanced power systems. Typical are motion picture studios, video studios, audio recording studios, semiconductor manufacturers, as well as many military users. The high cost of these commercial installations has till now excluded use of Symmetrical Balanced Power by the Home Theater owners and Audiophiles but this is about to change.Specifications: Electrical:
